To adopt a dog, you’ll typically complete an adoption application, go through a screening process (which may include questions about your home and lifestyle), and then be matched with a dog that fits your situation. If approved, you’ll schedule a meet-and-greet and finalize the adoption. Many rescues are foster-based, so visits may be by appointment. 

 Adoption fees vary by rescue but usually include vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and a microchip. Fees help cover the veterinary care and care provided while the dog was in foster or shelter care. Reach out to the specific rescue for current fee details. 

 Some rescues in the Omaha area are foster-based and do not have a central facility you can drop in to visit, instead, dogs live in volunteer fosters. Visits or meet-and-greets are arranged once your application is reviewed.
